Letbanen Ring 3

Letbanen Ring 3

The Hovedstadens Letbane (Greater Copenhagen Light Rail) is a significant and visionary project designed to drive growth and development in the Greater Copenhagen area, comparable to the impact of the historic Finger Plan and the S-train network. This project aims to position Copenhagen as a leading metropolis in Northern Europe, competing with cities like Stockholm, Berlin, and Hamburg.

The Letbane will enhance regional connectivity by linking the S-train and regional train lines, providing a direct cross-city route without requiring passage through central Copenhagen. It will improve access across the capital for work, leisure, culture, and nature, making it easier for students to reach DTU in Lyngby and major vocational schools in Glostrup, Albertslund, and Ishøj. Additionally, it will facilitate access to major hospitals in Herlev and Glostrup for patients and visitors.

Spanning 28 kilometers with 29 stations, the Letbane will run from Ishøj in the south, along Ring 3, to Lyngby and DTU in the north. The Letbane is designed to be quiet, fast, and environmentally friendly, with street-level entry points that are easily accessible for those with mobility issues, wheelchair users, strollers, and bicycles. It is expected to serve 13-14 million passengers annually, surpassing the Kystbanen's 10 million annual passengers.

Construction of the Letbane began in 2018, with completion anticipated in 2024. Once finished, the operation and maintenance of the Letbane will be managed by Region Hovedstaden and the 11 owner municipalities. This project is a collaborative effort between the Danish state, Region Hovedstaden, and the 11 municipalities, including Lyngby-Taarbæk, Gladsaxe, Herlev, Rødovre, Glostrup, Vallensbæk, Albertslund, Brøndby, Hvidovre, Høje-Taastrup, and Ishøj.

Starting from August 2024, Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group as a sub-contractor to Aarsleff Rail is now a part of the Hovedstadens Letbane project, being responsible for the complete installation of non-embedded track on 2 sections at Nybrovej. We are partnered with Aarsleff Rail for this task, bringing expertise and collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of this critical component of the project.
