Copenhagen Metro to the South Harbor
In 2018, Rhomberg Efacec JV signed the contract for the design and construction of the railway systems for the southern extension of Copenhagen's metro. After approximately three years of planning and preparation, construction began in the fall of 2021. During the construction phase, we laid a total of 25,600 LVT blocks and rail fastenings, 1,000 tons of rails, 9,300 cubic meters of concrete, 42 kilometers of cables, and 25 kilometers of cable trays. Our international and dedicated project team, composed of members from over ten different nations, worked tirelessly throughout the project, particularly during the main construction phase. Despite the challenges we faced along the way, we maintained a strong team spirit, which was key to our success.
June 22nd, King Frederik X inaugurated the extension of the M4 metro line at Mozarts Plads in Copenhagen. This expansion adds five new stations to the M4 metro line, improving connectivity to the new urban development areas in Sydhavn and Valby. The trains operate 24/7, driverless, and at high frequency, ensuring that the transportation needs of both visitors and residents of Copenhagen are met efficiently.
